The Goal: Playing Pull-Offs

The way we connect our notes on the guitar is called “articulation.” We have a few different choices and one of those choices is called a Pull-Off.

The Pull-Off is played by following these steps:

  • Press the string down with the left-hand finger.
  • Pick the string with the right hand.
  • Maintain pressure as you pull the left-hand finger toward the palm of your hand to sound the note behind it on the same string, using the initial attack to carry the tone.
  • Keep in mind that the second note is not picked.
