How Does it Work?

Getting Startedinstruments

How to take the first steps towards playing an instrument…

Starting to play music is obviously very exciting but sometimes the simple question of “Where do I start?” keeps us from taking that first step. We want to make that first step as easy and exciting as possible. That is why we designed our courses with you in mind.

1. The first decision is, which instrument suits you best.

–Before you go out and buy an instrument if you don’t already have one, it’s important to watch a few introductory lessons. Too often, we run out an buy and instrument only to discover we wanted to play something else.

2. Do one, or only a few lessons each day.

–Although it may be tempting to fly through dozens of lessons at a time, music, like any new language takes time to absorb and process. Better to play 15 minutes a day every day than to play 2 hours straight only once a week. Much like working out at a gym, overexertion usually leads to burnout.

3. Follow the lesson plan.

–We know you want to play the latest John Mayer song or rock out the solo from Stairway to Heaven but you need a good foundation to play these tunes. If you follow the course outline and stick to it faithfully, you’ll be blazing out solos and impressing your friends in no time. You’ll carry this talent with you for the rest of your life so there’s no need to rush it.

Now it’s up to you to take the first step and start playing. Choose and instrument and let’s get started!
