Why so many chords?

Learning new chords is something that is always part of a guitar players journey. The more chords you know, the more choices you have when playing a song and proves especially useful when trying to write a song to give it that unique sound.

Are these all the chords that exist?

It would be virtually impossible to list here all the different chords, inversions and their variations. That would number in the thousands!
